Is West Coast Wilderness Honey 100% natural raw honey?

Yes, all of our honey products are entirely raw natural honey, even our creamed honey is still classed as raw honey. We strongly believe that honey should remain natural with as little heating and filtering as possible.

Why are some of your honey products creamed?

If left to crystallise naturally our honey would form large crystals with a sugary texture. To avoid this we cream our honey which is a completely natural process, no pasteurising is required and no additives are used. Although creamed honey has different physical properties from liquid honey, it is chemically and nutritionally the same.

Why has our Raw liquid honey gone all sugary?

Because honey is a natural sugar (Glucose) it will crystallise over time.
Our Raw liquid honey will generally crystallise within 2 -3 months of packing but can easily be returned to liquid form by placing the jar in warm water for a period of time.

Is your honey pasteurised?

No, we refuse to pasteurise (flash heat and intense filtration) our honey as this process removes and destroys the pollen and enzymes within the honey, all the natural things that make honey so special.

Do you send honey overseas?

No, shipping only within NZ.

Is your Manuka honey genuine?

Yes, all our batches of Manuka honey are tested in an independent scientific laboratory and meet export guidelines set by the Ministry of Primary Industries. The level of MGO (Methylglyoxal) the natural compound unique to Manuka can be found on our Manuka labels.
